Sunny Sunflowers

Is it just me, or do sunflowers make you feel joyful and happy? There’s something about their friendly faces that makes me smile. My friend Hayleigh bought me some last week and rather than let them waste away in my dark flat where no one could see them, I took them out for a day trip to Bath.

Yes – the girls did ask me what the hell I was doing, when they pulled up outside my place to pick me up. But they laughed and rolled their eyes because they know me too well and that I’d be thinking, “too many photo opportunities to be had!”

We initially planned to have a picnic, but the weather wasn’t great so we decided to go for a roast. I was recommended GPT by a friend – and I now plan to eat there EVERY Sunday.

The roast was incredible, as were the sauces – particularly the horseradish. We hadn’t booked but the staff kindly fit us in; they were very welcoming, friendly and helpful.

I don’t know about you, but I can be incredibly indecisive when it comes to food – I want all of the good stuff. We decided to chose a meat each and cut it up to share it out. We chose lamb, beef and pork belly. I highly recommend you do the same!

Friends who dress the same has become a bit of a thing in our friendship group; so much so, we’re using the hashtag! #friendswhodressthesame

At the end of the day I sent them home with a sunflower each from my bunch to remember such a great day. Big up each and every sunflower – you light lives #lifeislit

Carried away in Copenhagen

Copenhagen Kod Style Fashion Travel Fbloggers Lbloggers WomenswearIt’s been a matter of weeks since my tanned feet (reluctantly) fled Bali and returned to the UK, feels like months. I need the sparkle in my eye back – how to best achieve this? A city break!

1 flight to Copenhagen and a drunken night catching up with friends later, and I’m in bed. Hungover, but still drooling over the amazing steak & red wine dinner I had at Kod last night. At least I think it’s that, and am not drooling because of too many cocktails.

A long weekend of exploring, shopping, food & booze ahead of me. Am filled with excitement.

Shopping is one of my favourite things to do, and Copenhagen is my favourite city to go shopping in. Therefore win-win situation (so I’m telling my bank account anyway). Beautiful people with impeccable style swarm the city streets, this makes perfect inspiration for shopping splurge.

Danish fashion is minimal and relaxed. The sophisticated, smart-casual style goes against all fashion norms with practicality and function being at the heart of design. It focuses on timeless items, classic styles with interesting cuts and lots of layering.

Pattern is often non-existent because the cut of the clothing is exciting enough. Be prepared to see most things in monochrome, navy and nude with small accents of colour, or statement pieces in bright block colour.

Furniture can be as bright and bold as you like, fluorescent even. To me (a home grown English girl) this isn’t supposed to make sense. I’ve spent my whole life growing up around brown leather sofas, patchwork curtains, arga’s and cottage beams. But somehow it seems to fit? I love Copenhagen interiors. Simple but fabulous.

Normann is my favourite shop in the city, very expensive but worth checking out just to see the shop fit! Its tagline is: Contemporary, Scandinavian design. Furniture and accessories. Did purchase small gift for my home (was within budget). Totally in love with new wood bird ornaments.
